Workshops:

There are two types of workshops normal 3hr Workshops (one workshop ticket credit) and Day Workshops (2 workshop ticket credits).

Workshop Tickets

Spaces are limited so please book early to avoid disappointment. Attendance is based on a first come first served.

Please note all workshop tickets are valid for 6 months from the date of purchase.

 Important: Please note it is your responsibility to ensure you are fit and well for all workshops or holidays you attend. (If in doubt please consult your GP for a check up before exercise. Please contact us for a PARQ (Physical Activity Readiness. Questionnaire) and look at the preparation required for each workshop.)

MBT Workshop: Lean Health and Happy (Series 1 of 3)- The Art of Yoga, Nutrition, Lifestyle and Fat Loss

In this workshop we will practice some yoga and look at how to practice for a lean body. We will look at the Science of Fat Loss. We will look at lifestyle and how it can improve lean health and happiness. We ill look at mind set, habits and motivation for change. This is a series of workshops that will add layer of layer of information, changes and practice for you to learn about your body, and how to find what works for your body type, and what blocks you in your mind from achieving lean health and happiness.

We will also look at the anatomy and physiology of how our bodies, absorb nutrients, energy from our food, use and store this energy. We will look at body shapes in relation to lean and yoga. We will look at how lifestyle is a the crucial change we need to make in out lives and how to make “Positive Habit Switches”.

Audience:All welcome, Yoga Students, Teachers

Preparation: Yoga mats and blocks will be available, please bring paper and pen. A dairy of two weeks movement and food/beverages consumed.

Type: Interactive learning, talk, discussion, yoga class (45min).

Learning:

  1. What does it mean to be health and the value of health vs illness?
  2. All about fat: What is fat? Is it good or bad? How do become fat? Where does the fat go when we lose weight?
  3. Nutrition for fat loss (sustainable lean)
  4. Yoga for fat loss (sustainable lean)
  5. Definition of happiness? What makes us happy?
  6. Sadness cycle and effect on health.
  7. How to create a lifestyle for health and happiness.

Holidays

Type: Interactive learning, talk, yoga practice.

  1. Able to distinguish Open-chain and closed-chain movements.
  2. How using these concepts can be used to rapidly deepen your asana practice.
  3. How to efficiently contract and relax muscles to enhance strength and flexibility.
  4. The most effective, scientifically-proven way to release muscles & improve
    flexibility.
  5. How to be aware of alignment and adjustments needed in your own practice.
  6. How to spot alignment and adjustments in a others practice.
  7. Tools to help you move deeper into your practice.

Imagine loving backbends. This workshop will show you how to incorporate a few simple techniques into your backbends so that you can deepen your postures progressively, opening your shoulders and chest and creating space rather than compression and pain in your lower back. This workshop will give you all the tools you need to develop your back bending practice and mobilise your spine effectively.

  1. To understand how to isolate and develop the strength and flexibility of the
  2.    -Psoas and quadriceps
  3.    -The shoulder joint
  4. How to mobilise the spine.
  5. How to set up the shoulder girdle for back bends.
  6. How to deepen your postures safely.
  7. Tools to develop your backbend practice

Do you want to revolutionise your yoga practice? The secret is to learn to use your psoas correctly. Yoga practice requires strength and flexibility combined with breath. The psoas is the most important postural muscle in the body. It gives you stability, controls forward and back bending and also directly impacts on how you breathe; yet few people know how to use the psoas muscle correctly. This workshop will give you the tools you need to access the full power of the psoas.

  1. Illiopsoas muscle and function.
  2. The Psoas muscle where it is and what it does.
  3. Antagonist muscles and reciprocal inhibition.
  4. Techniques to: Strengthen the psoas for forward bends & straight leg extension holds.
  5. Techniques to: Release the psoas for back bends.
  6. Techniques to: Use the psoas to help you breathe deeper & in a more controlled manner.
  7. The importance of the psoas muscle, hip flexion, and lumbar stabilisation.
