Granary Yoga Studio – Milton Keynes

Howard Napper

It is a well-respected view that yoga has the ability to help manage the stresses and strains of our lives. But how exactly does this practice that primarily focuses on the physical lead to so many amazing mental and emotional health benefits?

In this workshop we will delve into a deep understanding of stress and how it can even become something positive. We will also explore many of the proven techniques within yoga that help us manage moments in our lives when stress takes its grip and may leave us feeling overwhelmed.

This workshop doesn’t have to come at a particularly stressful time in one’s life in order for it to be beneficial. As we are all fully aware, the very nature of life is stressful, and it can be of great benefit to anyone to gain an understanding of how some of these simple techniques can not only affect our day-to-day stress levels, but also improve the quality of our life as a whole.

With over 25 years of experience, Howard Napper has become one of the country’s most innovative and respected yoga teachers. Over the years, his work in the field of stress has made him one of the most powerful voices not only within yoga, but also within what has become known as “lifestyle medicine”. 9 July 2016 Saturday 10h30-17h00 – David Sye : Yoga Beats Workshop

Granary Yoga Studio – Milton Keynes
David Sye

Yogabeats™ is more than just Yoga, it is pure fun, a practice driven by music and rhythms. The yoga is an eclectic mix of styles designed to accommodate all levels of fitness and ability.

Yogabeats™ uses ‘micro-moves’ rather than fixed postures – continuous movements which do not lock off the muscles or disrupt the blood flow and increase flexibility. These micro-moves originated with David observing how children were unable to hold fixed static postures. David began to adopt and implement the shifting movements within his own practice with startling results and benefits, which are now supported by physiotherapists and body workers.

This workshop is to be held at The Granary Yoga Studio in Brogbrough, J 13 off the M1. Free parking is available. Places are limited so book early to avoid disappointment.

Price is £65 Early Bird by May 31st, 2016. £70 Full Price.

19-22 May 2016 Thurs (4 Days) – Shaura Hall : Yoga Therapy for Addictions

Yoga Buddies ShauraStudio – Milton Keynes

… another opportunity to dive into the world of sociology, psychology, genetics, neurobiology, and of course, practice and learn population specific yoga therapy techniques.

Yoga is a remarkable practice that builds self-awareness, strength, clarity of mind, and resilience. Many of its practices can be used as coping mechanisms to overcome personal difficulties. By clearly understanding how yoga promotes these psychological and physical changes, yoga teachers can tailor practices to support people who are addicted to substances and help prevent relapse. When we combine specialized yoga practice with mindfulness and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques (CBT—a common psychological approach in addictions treatment), we can develop a method of healing that supports the whole person. This three-tiered approach—physiology, psychology, and behavior—we can greatly enhance the likelihood of preventing relapse and overcoming addictions.
In this training you will learn how to use integrative yogic-based approaches to addictions that will allow you to work with clients privately, in clinics, and in group settings. In particular, we explore the teachings of Yogi Bhajan with regards to ‘keeping up spirit’ in the face of adversity.
