Master Classes

Master Class is typically 1.5-2 hours with question time available with the Tribe Leader after the class. The master class is intended to be a combination of primarily practice with also some theory. You will learn both the theory and by action (doing).

There are two types of workshops normal 3hr Workshops and Day Workshops. Please click “Read More” the pull down for more information. Workshops involve theory, questioning, discovery learning, learn by doing and take away notes and practice. Please look at the 7 learning points for each workshop by clicking “Read more”.

We will play with the art of floating, where bio-mechanics, neuromuscular strength and gravity play. We will look at the anatomy of float forwards, backward, Flying Frogs and Fallen Angels.

A day of fun and learning. Where you will leave with the mindset and tools to move toward the magical art of floating.

We will explore the art of transitions learning how to engage strength and tensegrity and move toward balanced effort and finally effortless balance. We will understand the anatomy and physiology of strength. We will learn exercises to build strength. We will learn what range of motion and flexibility is required for float throughs from down dog to boat.

Audience: Yoga Students Intermediate, Teachers

In this workshop we are going to explore the season and how to adapt your practice lifestyle and nutrition to meet the season. In this case preparing for winter. We will look at how important nutrition is seasonally and how the body adapts to winter with hormonal changes and fat storage.

In this Tai Chi and Qi Gong workshop, we shall begin with a martial yoga warm-up. We will use the rotation, swivel and swing sequences to open the body’s range of mobility, and generate Qi with the powerful 3 circles sequence. Then we will look into two Tai Chi forms – the Beijing 24 and Swimming Dragon. Form training can be introductory or advanced. We will look into martial applications of these forms. and perhaps look into Tai Chi push hands for self defense and soft sparring options. Tai Chi explores the interplay of Yin and Yang and the relation of strength and softness. By combining movement, breath, form, flow and function it creates a practise that leaves you feeling calm, clear and re-energised You may incorporate the movements into your personal practise or you may study them further through our online program at freedommartialart.com

In this workshop we will learn the health benefits of chocolate, the history of chocolate, the health benefits of wine and the wine/chocolate partnership. We will also have a great yoga practice to prepare our bodies for digestion, with twists, and peristaltic movement flows. What more do we need to say entice you and your friends other than the two words “chocolate” and “wine”.

  • The Psoas muscle where it is and what it does.
  • Antagonist muscles and reciprocal inhibition.
  • Techniques to: Strengthen the psoas for forward bends & straight leg extension holds.
  • Techniques to: Release the psoas for back bends.
  • Techniques to: Use the psoas to help you breathe deeper & in a more controlled manner.
  • The importance of the psoas muscle, hip flexion, and lumbar stabilisation.
